The Story of Su
I have spent half of my life in the Hair Industry and still love it!
Originally from New Zealand – I spent over 17 years abroad living in New York, Sweden, Austria, Nepal, London and Bangladesh.
I have taught seminars for Redken, Goldwell, worked for Wella as a Colour Technician as well as managing a boutique hair salon in London’s trendy East end for 7 of the 10 years I lived there.
Hair styling, creating vintage interiors, magazine, television and photo shoots have also been my passion. My ultimate pleasure comes from making people feel good about themselves especially in an organic and natural way.
Being in Bangladesh taught me so much about different cultures,humility and compassion and has strengthened my inner resolve as well as in communication and creative diversity.
Being there taught me to appreciate life and all of it’s ups and downs but to never lose your passion or humility – we are all one at the end of the day.
The call to come home to New Zealand brought me back to Christchurch in February 2016. Coming back to the area by the sea where I grew up made me decide to open my own salon studio called Sukha Organic Hairdressing.
Sukha is the Sanskrit word for happiness independent of circumstances.
I have created a small peaceful space where you can be pampered with a one on one experience and you can also have a Reiki treatment or Argan oil aromatherapy head massage if you wish.
All colouring and styling products are Organic and free of nasty chemicals so that the condition of your hair is not compromised and neither is the environment.

This afternoon I had the best hairdressing experience ever ! Su is so amazing, and being in her home I felt so welcome and relaxed. Her partner was cooking the most delicious smelling dinner, and the pets (1 dog and 2 cats) were the icing on the cake for me. My hair looks and feels so much better, and the price was very reasonable. I totally recommend Su, she is a beautiful person inside and out, with a delightfully wicked laugh and a very talented hairdresser. The conversation was great and I also loved her choice of music..
